Our History & Philosophy

Our history starts with a family. Work hard, stay humble, be teachable and remain grateful describes Dave & Suzanne Fisher. While a lot of change has occurred in Columbus since the late 1960s, their work ethic has remained steadfast. Their modest beginning began in a 17-foot mobile home near the Ohio State Fairgrounds, here they started both a family & a family business.  Their first purchase was a four-family building on a land-contract. Some would say that Dave and Suzanne saw the future, planting seeds down in the Olde Towne East area all those years ago. But Dave would humbly say he was just 30 years early. Over the next few years, F&W properties continued to acquire properties in Olde Towne East, as well as German Village and Victorian Village. Steady growth through the years has made F&W Properties a cornerstone in the area for quality multi-family living.  

As of today, we are still a family owned and operated business, managing nearly 900 units in Columbus.  We also have partnerships on the campus of the Ohio State University, in Dayton, Ohio, and in several cities in Texas.  The largest part of the day-to-day maintenance and capital improvements are done by our in-house maintenance teams. Our talented staff have  combined experience of more than 150 years with F &W. We train our employees to think like owners, we should make them owners, and we did. Since some of our buildings have become employee-owned, we share in the owner mentality. We ask employee to keep our residents needs at the forefront of their decisions. Moreover, to have a sense of pride that comes with making a difference in people’s lives. Dave Fisher’s philosophy is still the same as it was in the ‘60s; Good people deserve great homes. Giving them a beautiful home on the outside will encourage them to create a delightful home inside.

This old timer and his wife started F&W Properties decades ago with the purchase of a 2-family apartment.  Fast forward to today, he still is frequently spotted at the properties.  He loves digging in the dirt and planting Hostas to make our properties look beautiful.

Leasing questions or concerns?  Belen is our Spicy Leasing Senorita.  She is as lively as she is efficient, and with her caliente' personality and expert skills, you are in good hands with her.

This Project Manager likes to make things pretty, especially buildings. She is in charge of updating our properties and making sure residents love their buildings. She also considers herself a professional cat herder.  Her job consists of lots of different things and she is always going in lots of different directions.

Meet our Matchmaker!   Are you looking for the perfect apartment that you can fall in love with and possibly spend the rest of your life in?   Meet Linda!  Ok, the rest of the life part might be a stretch.  She is our leasing specialist who will perfectly pair you with your casa perfecto and make the whole process as seamless as possible.

This guy can fix anything, anywhere, anytime.  The most dependable man on the planet. With his decades of experience, he knows these buildings better than the back of his hand and can fix even the toughest of problems.

When there is a problem, this is your guy! He knows how to get things done and fast.  Knowing our communities inside and out…He literally knows where everything is from meters and pipes to hoses of all types!  He can plant a tree or do plumbing! He is a man who wears many hats.

Grounds Supervisor

This husky one keeps our buildings looking pretty.  He has a green thumb, likes to drive a Bobcat, and is a miracle worker with a chainsaw.  You're likely to see Garrett frequently walking around our properties, be sure to say “hi”.

Maintenance Supervisor

Our Maintenance Supervisor makes sure all the properties are in tip-top shape. Managing all the operations outside the office, we often call him the Big Gun. He can be on a roof one day and in the basement the next. He is an encyclopedia of information and makes sure to oversee all the maintenance items with no detail left untouched, ensuring our residents are happy.

Meet Jeff, our Supply Sherpa! Scaling procurement peaks with humor, efficiency, and a knack for deals. He ensures top-notch maintenance supplies, delivering everything we need to spiff with a smile. "Spiff", is short for Spiffing! it's F&W's word for the cleaning process and fine-tuning of an apartment before the new resident moves in.

Accounts Receivables

She collects the rent and counts the money.  As our preferred “Resource Queen” whether it's something weird or funky happening with your account, ask Kate she will figure it out.

Accounting Manager & HR Specialist

This talented one can bake a mean cake and balance the checkbook (probably at the same time)!  She supervises all our financial accounts.  She's also the girl to talk to if you want to work with us!

He makes sure the problems get fixed and fixed quickly.  Let’s just say he knows a thing or two.  You’ll see his friendly face typically at Clifton Woods.  Sam has 3 decades of working at F&W and nothing is too tough for Sam.

Living her dream in property management. Commonly referred to as “Spackle”, there to fill in the gaps wherever needed. From acquisition meetings to plunging toilets she won't ask you to do anything she isn't willing or has done herself.

Community Involvement

Our forte-Properties in a state of needed repair either physical or management we purchase it and “turn it around” applying our many years of operation experience.  Most notably, a 200-unit, 12 building complex on the Near East Side of Columbus, purchased in 1987 with only 25 paying residents. Within 18 months the renovation of the complex was substantially completed, and we continue to own and operate this property today. We understand the priorities and dedication that is required to take a non-functioning property and create a long-term viable asset.  Locally and nationally, F&W has been recognized by the National Apartment Association in an article published on our “Get Tough” policy against anyone engaged in illegal activity. We work closely with the community and our residents to encourage them to take pride in their home and part of that is to work with us to monitor the community closely and keep it safe and free of crime. It is the kind of partnership that makes crime prevention a winning proposition for property management and residents and creates a desirable community.
